[<>] ====== Ivy Building ====== **Designer:** designers:Jennifer Heaton **Designed:** May 2010 ===Designer's Notes=== The Ivy Building was originally meant to be a replica of the Ivy Building in downtown Minneapolis. As I was building it I realized that I was never going to quite get the proportions right in LEGO, so I instead designed a building that was inspired by the Ivy Building. I like this building, but the snot (Studs Not On Top for those who don't spend all their free time building with LEGOs) work involved in the upper part of the building took forever to get right. I must have taken the building apart 25 times or more. When I was finished I vowed I would never build another building with such complicated snot work, and so far I haven't. I'm a better designer than I am an engineer, so buildings that involve complex engineering leave me frustrated. Still, I think the final build looks good, and I learned a great deal in the process, particularly about how headlight bricks can be both your friend and your enemy. You don't see them in the final build, but they're in there. [<>] ---- ~~DISQUS~~
